The International Joint Commission (IJC) invites nominations for positions on its Great Lakes Water Quality Board (WQB) and Science Advisory Board (SAB). Under the U.S-Canada Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, the Water Quality Board is the principal advisor to the Commission, while the Science Advisory Board provides advice on research and scientific matters to the IJC and to the Water Quality Board. The composition of the Water Quality Board and the Science Advisory Board are outlined in the Board Structure tab of this website.
The purpose of each Board is outlined in the respective detailed functions documents for the WQB and SAB. The IJC’s expectations of Board members and each board’s operational procedures are outlined in the Rules and Procedures document for the Water Quality Board and Science Advisory Board. Furthermore, the competencies being sought in Board members are provided for reference for both the WQB and SAB, and will serve as the basis on which all applications are evaluated.
To apply for a position on either Board please fill out the application form and include your curriculum vitae and three references. If you are applying to the Water Quality Board, please specify which position you are applying for. Applications for both Boards will be accepted until October 5, 2013.
A selection committee will be convened by the IJC to evaluate the applications. Reference checks will be made and interviews may be conducted, as required. All applicants will be notified whether their application has been successful.
