Dikes – Detroit River, Bois Blanc Island

Description
A Reference to investigate and report on the necessity, in the interest of navigation, of building dikes and compensating works at Bois Blanc Island or elsewhere in the Detroit River to compensate for dredging and excavation being undertaken in the Livingstone Channel, Detroit River.
Outcome

The IJC concluded that dykes and compensatory works were necessary in the interests of navigation, but recommended that they could be located in another part of the river and still satisfy the navigation needs without adversely affecting Amherstburg. This recommendation was implemented.
