Council of Great Lakes Research Managers Invites Your Participation at November 5 Public Meeting

How can the Great Lakes research community combine efforts and develop cost-saving strategies to continue its world-class work, despite recent budget and staffing cutbacks in Canada and the United States? How can it ensure a solid scientific foundation for management programs? What areas of research are most valuable to people developing and implementing Remedial Action Plans for degraded areas around the basin, as well as Lakewide Management Plans? How can these programs' research needs be communicated more effectively?

The Council of Great Lakes Research Managers invites your views on these and other topics at its annual public meeting, to be held on Tuesday, November 5, 1996 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The public meeting immediately follows the Council's business meeting, which begins at 1:00 p.m. and is also open to the public. Both meetings will be held at the following location:

Union Gas Room, Cleary International Centre
201 Riverside Drive West, Windsor, Ontario

The Council of Great Lakes Research Managers advises the International Joint Commission on the adequacy of research to implement the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement between the United States and Canada. The International Joint Commission, a U.S. - Canadian treaty organization, monitors progress by the two countries to accomplish the goals of the Agreement. All of the Commission's Boards hold at least one public meeting annually to report on their work and to receive the views of the public.
