INTERNATIONAL AIR QUALITY ADVISORY BOARD AND HEALTH PROFESSIONALS TASK FORCE TO HOST JOINT PUBLIC MEETING

Are you concerned about the adverse health effects that air pollution may be causing in your community? The Health Professionals Task Force and the International Air Quality Advisory Board of the International Joint Commission invite you to participate in our Joint Public Meeting in Chicago, Illinois on November 21.

This meeting is to bring the comments and concerns of you and your community on air quality and health issues to the attention of our experts on air quality and related human health effects. Both groups will make brief presentations on their history and current work, and then the focus will shift to your findings, questions and concerns.

The International Air Quality Advisory Board, established in 1966, advises and makes recommendations to the International Joint Commission on air pollution concerns along the entire United States / Canada boundary. Its scope extends from local and regional to national and international concerns.

The Health Professionals Task Force, established by the Commission in 1995, secures current information and offers advice on emerging public and clinical health issues related to environmental contaminants, especially persistent toxic substances. It also considers the state of environmental health information and education available to the profession, both in their formal training and in continuing education.

The meeting will be held at the Ralph H. Metcalfe Federal Building, 77 West Jackson Blvd., Room 331, third floor and will begin at 5:45pm and come to a close at 8:45pm. This joint public meeting is open to all interested inviduals and organizations. For further information, please contact John McDonald, Secretary to the International Air Quality Advisory Board at 519/257-6712 or by e-mail at mcdonaldj@windsor.ijc.org or Jim Houston, Secretary to the Health Professionals Task Force at 613/995-0230 or by e-mail at "houstonj@ottawa.ijc.org"
