This project has been planned to weave Indigenous knowledge and values into adaptive management of lake levels through a review of existing and prospective new performance indicators for rule curve operation by Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty #3. This will ensure the Adaptive Management Committee (AMC) can successfully deliver on its mandate to monitor, understand and review rule curves. The project is intended to lay foundations to grow an enduring suite of relationships that will lead to more robust watershed management, informed by the values, knowledge, and perspectives of Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty #3. Although the current project allows for some binational information exchange and engagement, it is intended to complement parallel future engagement projects with the Métis Nation of Ontario – Region 1 and Minnesota Tribes within the watershed following those groups’ respective protocols and practices.
