International Red River Watershed Board Public Meeting
The International Red River Watershed Board (IRRWB) will be hosting an in-person public meeting during the 42nd Annual Red River Basin Land & Water International Summit Conference (January 14-16) on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 11:20 am to 12:15 pm CST, in the Main Ballroom of the Alerus Center (located at 1200 S 42nd St, Grand Forks, ND 58201).
The dual purpose of the public meeting is to present a brief overview of IJC and IRRWB activities including objectives pertaining to water management in the Red River basin. In addition, the meeting will provide the public with an opportunity to ask questions and discuss current issues affecting the Red River basin, such as drought, flooding, water quality, ecosystem health, and the transfer of invasive species. The public will have an opportunity to share their views and concerns with the Board, either in writing or virtually.
The International Red River Watershed Board is an independent group established by the International Joint Commission, or IJC, under the Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909. The Board assists the Commission in preventing or resolving transboundary disputes regarding the waters and aquatic ecosystem of the Red River and its tributaries and aquifers shared by Canada and the United States. This is accomplished by providing a forum for the identification and resolution of existing and emerging trans-boundary water-related issues and by recommending appropriate strategies concerning water quality, quantity, and ecosystem health objectives.
To join the Public Session on January 16, 2025, during the RRBC conference, you may join us in the Main Ballroom at 11:20 a.m. (For free, no conference registration is required).
