International Red River Watershed Board to Host an In-Person Public Meeting

Winnipeg, Manitoba—The International Red River Watershed Board (IRRWB) will be hosting an in-person public meeting during the 43nd Annual Red River Basin Commission’s Land & Water International Summit Conference (which runs from January 13-15, 2026) on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm CST, in the Fairmont Hotel Midway/Est Ballroom (located at 2 Lombard Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3B 0Y3).
The purpose of the public meeting is to present a brief overview of IJC and IRRWB activities including objectives pertaining to water management in the Red River basin. In addition, the meeting will provide the public with an opportunity to ask questions and discuss current issues affecting the Red River basin, such as drought, flooding, water quality, ecosystem health, and the transfer of invasive species. Furthermore, the public will have an opportunity to share their views and concerns with the Board in writing, as well.
To participate in the Public Session on January 15, 2026, during the RRBC conference, you may join us in the Midway/East Ballroom of the Fairmont Hotel at 11:00 a.m. (For free, no conference registration is required).
To attend the IRRWB Open Session of the Board Meeting on January 15, 2026, you may join us at 1:30 p.m. CST in the York Conference Room (also free of charge, no registration required.
The public is also invited to listen to discussions among First Nations, Métis, Tribal Federal, State and Provincial agencies, as well as local organizations during the Board meeting on Thursday, January 15 from 1:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.
The International Red River Watershed Board is an independent group established by the International Joint Commission (IJC), under the Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909. The Board assists the Commission in preventing and resolving transboundary disputes regarding the waters and aquatic ecosystem of the Red River and its tributaries and aquifers shared by Canada and the United States.
