Join the International Red River Watershed Board for a Public Meeting on August 21, 2024

Date

Grand Beach, MB - The public is invited to attend a public meeting of the International Red River Watershed Board (IRRWB) on August 21, 2024 to be held from 4-5:30 PM CDT at the Grand Beach Community Club at Grand Beach, Manitoba.

The purpose of the meeting is to share information on the work related to water management in the Red River basin that the International Joint Commission (IJC) is advancing through the International Red River Watershed Board and to seek a better understanding of the importance of Lake Winnipeg to the community and its residents.   The public will have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues affecting the basin including downstream impacts on Lake Winnipeg with members of the Board.

The IRRWB is an independent, bi-national group established by the IJC under the Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909. The Board monitors, assesses and reports on water quality, water quantity, and aquatic ecosystem health throughout the Red River of the North basin including Lake Winnipeg to identify, prevent and resolve transboundary issues along the Canada-United States border. The Board's priorities include Indigenous participation and inclusion, as well as addressing the impacts of climate change in all aspects of its work.
