Colonel Samuel Calkins

Colonel Calkins is the Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area. Previously he served as Command Engineer, U.S. Army Cyber Command and as Executive Assistant to the Director for Operations (J3) on the Joint Staff. He has also been a Battalion Commander in the 1st Infantry Division, Professor of Military Science at Cal Poly State University, and Assistant Professor of Economics, Department of Social Science, U.S. Military Academy.

His educational background includes a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College, a Master of Science in Economics from London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri-Rolla.

He serves as Co-Chair of the Watershed Board, Co-chair of the Water Levels Committee, and on the Red River, Souris and Poplar Boards.
