When water supplies exceed capacity in the Lake Ontario-St. Lawrence River system, water levels rise. When this happens, regulation is looked to as the solution.

Over the last decade, the number of buoys reporting real-time weather observations has more than tripled from 20 in 2009 to nearly 60 in 2019.

Great Lakes policy development and management actions rely on data from scientifically-based indicators. Currently, indicators primarily monitor the physical, chemical and biological health of the lakes and inform actions needed to maintain a healthy ecosystem.

Cleaning up Great Lakes Areas of Concern leads to reconnecting people to waterways. And that leads to community and economic revitalization.
